Your one-stop-shop for all things Indian and delicious in Howick, The Indian Kitchen Restaurant keeps things nice and simple with tasty, no-frills dishes.

An unassuming presence on the high street, they've created a warm, welcoming and informal vibe inside and out. Inside, that's probably due to the rustic wooden walls, the peach-coloured tablecloths and the cheery coloured chairs. A bit random and jumbled, The Indian Kitchen aren't taking themselves seriously. One thing they do take seriously, however, is the food.

The curries on offer are extensive and have something for everyone and every occasion. Let's start off with the vindaloos, butter varieties, saagwalas and masalas, all of which can be demolished with chicken, beef or vegetables. Lamb and seafood also get involved with their own versions of rogan josh, achari and madras.

For something really special, all you have to do it look to the Indian Kitchen signatures which feature baltis, kormas and jalfrezees that are ready to be customised with your choice of protein or vegetables. And, unlike many Indian restaurants, they also have a kids section that has small portions of butter and mango chicken. South African bunny chow is also thrown into the mix, making this eatery one of the most vibrant and varied in the area.
