From the foothills of the Himalayas, Tama Eatery and Bar brings you the tastes of Kathmandu, with authentic Nepali and Newari flavours.

Long tables with benches form the cosy layout of this restaurant which creates a distinctly communal feel. With a stage, open for acoustic gigs and general merriment, you’ll think you’ve walked into a Nepalese market.

The menu specialises in Nepali flavour selections and is inspired further by the multicultural food scene in New Zealand. Begin with some Tama fries tossed with homemade spice and chilli aioli on the side, Edamame sadheko mixed with a Nepali style salsa, or the fried mashed potato coated with spiced batter.

For your noodle fix, try the grilled marinated chicken, carrots cabbage and scallions, with a Nepali spice blend, or Veg Thukpa a Himalayan noodle soup with blanched noodles and veggies. Smoked plates include the Lamb Sekuwa, New Zealand grass-fed lamb rubbed in dry Nepalese spices, or the Chicken Choila, boneless free-range chicken marinated in Nepali spices and coated in the Chef's special choila sauce. Don't forget the star of the show, the Mo:Mo, Tama's signature Nepali dumplings an amalgamation of Indian and Chinese flavours, cooked four ways.
