Cuisine: Nepalese, Street Food, Vegan
Price Point: Mains from $15 - $25
Tama Eatery is bringing Nepali and Newari food to Auckland.
Long tables with benches form the seating plan at this restaurant which afford it a distinctly communal feel. At the end of the dining room is a stage, open for acoustic gigs and general merriment; you’ll think you’ve walked into a Nepalese market!
Specialising in tapas style small plates, they’re perfect for mixing and matching. Try the Aaloo Tama, a thick stew with black eyed beans, the lamb chowella marinated in burnt tomatoes or the Nepalese equivalent to a taco. If you’re having trouble deciding between you, go for the baji set; a colourful sharing platter bursting with bold flavours.
Have an ice-cold beer to hand with their range of household names like Heineken and Asahi as well as NZ beers on tap. Or why not indulge in their concise cocktail menu which heralds simple, delicious combinations with a no frill attitude.
