Bonz Cajun Kitchen

Bonz Cajun (pronounced 'bones') isn't one to draw culinary inspiration from just one corner of the world. Indeed, with French, Spanish, Caribbean, American BBQ and Mexican flavours on the menu, this restaurant is a globetrotter and then some.

Housed in the Elliott Stables, this landmark in Auckland is known far and wide. Built as a warehouse in 1910 on the corner of Wellesley and Elliott, this spacious, urban eatery can be reached by foot from any part of town. Inside, Bonz Cajun have really made it their own by channelling the generous, community-driven philosophy behind their food into a warm and welcoming diner for every man and his dog. And with an alfresco area on the square outside, immerse yourself in the city's comings over a hefty feed.

We hope you're hungry! Loading up plates sky-high is what Bonz does best, and all full of fall-off-the-bone BBQs meat no less. Whether you like it crispy or sticky, the mains are offering up Southern fried chicken waffles, Texas beef brisket and Jamaican jerk chicken. All served with mountains of slaw and an array of potato wedges, rice and delicious sauces, Bonz test the very limits of the humble dining plate. How much more can you fit on? From the cajun side of things you have the spicy jambalaya with Andouille sausage and free range chicken, Cajun stews and a blackened snapper with plenty of greens and cheesy bites on the side.
