Turkish-Mediterranean fusion food and Shisha in Auckland’s bustling Chancery Square.

Living up to its namesake’s history, Caravanserai is a vibey late-night venue, with expansive outdoor dining and shisha space designed for respite, conversation and guaranteed good times.

With meze/tapas options as well as course-based dining, Caravanserai is the fusion restaurant for everyone. While there are a number of go-to options, like the Tokyo scallops, the Manila pork scratch or the Bodrum dolma, the dish that truly steals the show is the 24ct gold-wrapped steak. A trendy, high-class dish overseas, which has finally arrived here in Auckland. Insta captions at the ready.

Caravanserai doesn’t scrimp on the drinks either. Craft beers, international favourite lagers, local wines and a curated cocktail list all help the weary traveller unwind.

Do as the ancient traders did, drop into Caravanserai for a well-deserved break from it all.

Great food, but be careful of the dessert...you will want more! Excellent service too, and accommodated for us at short notice.

Thanks and will definitely be back!

Booked first table, and when we arrived, people at the front of the restaurant were smoking Shisha. Not the greatest vibe for us personally, so we didn’t even eat at the restaurant. A little disappointing that nothing was said about the ambience of the place.

Food and service were great. Nice, relaxing setting, we chose an inside table with big arm chairs and ordered 4 tapas (Istanbul mezze was best value), pad Thai and falafel. All were delicious and fresh.

Great variety of food and well cooked. There's seating away from the shisha which is nice. The service was quite attentive

Tasty food. Eclectic mix, so something for everyone. Prompt service. Decor a little sparse, but enjoyed the relaxed comfy lounge style seating

Excellent! Beef short ribs, lamb shish, and pork belly were all tender and flavourful. Friendly service. This would be a good place for events.

Tapas were okay. Scallops were well done so not that good. Wings were delicious. There was only one server on the Friday that we went. He attended to all customers including the bar. Excellent service as he did everything efficiently.

Hi ... we arrived and chose to sit at a lovely inside table in big padded armchairs. Too many people smoking on pipes at outside tables. Very nice service and a lovely cocktail to start. The menu was all over the place .. Malaysian Thai Chinese American with only a few Mediterranean choices. Mezze platter was lovely with 2 of us ordering Pizza for a main. The lamb main was great but the Buffalo Wings were raw so went back. We were disappointed as came wanting to feast on Turkish Mediterranean food ...

Was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant looked a bit old and dated with handwritten table numbers but the food was actually quite good. Loved the grilled lamb sheik and pork belly
