dinner

Uncle Man's Wynyard Quarter brings the spirit of Malaysian comfort cooking to Central Auckland, with a menu celebrating bold spice, aromatic warmth and the irresistible pull of freshly made roti. It's food with story and soul - the kind that invites dipping, tearing and sharing across the table.

Begin with street-side favourites - crisp salt and pepper squid or golden kuih karipap - before leaning into the roti ritual. Flaky roti canai arrives ready to swipe through soothing dhal or rich curry, while murtabak folds spiced chicken, egg and onion into a savoury, griddled parcel.

Substantial mains deliver beloved Malaysian classics. Nasi lemak balances fragrant coconut rice and punchy sambal with melt-in-the-mouth beef rendang. Rounding out the feast, there's tender lamb briyani, wok-tossed mee goreng and seafood curry laksa humming with creamy coconut heat.

To finish, those with a sweet tooth will find joy in roti bom or popia pisang coklat, best paired with teh tarik or a nostalgic cup of Milo.

Make a date for flavours that travel far and wide, then stay for another roti, because one good tear deserves another!
