Tucked into Ponsonby’s lively dining strip, ADDA brings the warmth and verve of the Indian kitchen to Auckland. It is the sort of place where conversation hums and plates arrive with colour and perfume, inviting diners to settle in and savour. The cooking leans into tradition with a contemporary polish, celebrating bold spices, gentle heat and the kind of comfort that lingers long after the last bite.

Starters nod to the bustle of the subcontinent, from crisp, hand-held samosa to paneer pakora with its golden crunch. From the tandoor come smoke-kissed favourites such as tandoori chicken and chicken tikka, their char and spice promising depth without bluster.

Mains travel a map of beloved classics. Creamy butter chicken offers familiar indulgence, while malai kofta and paneer tikka masala bring richness and softness in equal measure. Those seeking bolder beats can turn to lamb rogan josh or the fiery pull of lamb vindaloo, with beef renditions for good measure. A coastal detour arrives via fish malabari and prawn malabari, fragrant with spice and a whisper of coconut.

Whether it is a cosy catch-up or a leisurely supper, ADDA makes a persuasive case for staying a little longer. Book a table, follow the aroma and let the evening carry you away.
