Hidden at the top of a staircase off Federal Street, The Glass Goose is a rooftop bar and restaurant in the heart of Auckland CBD, moments from SkyCity and the Sky Tower. The deck is open-air, strung with lights and trailing greenery, with a curved brass bar and warm restaurant interior for when the weather turns.

The contemporary New Zealand menu is playful in places and polished throughout. Start with pork scratchings and kiwi onion dip, sweetcorn and jalapeño hushpuppies, or yellowfin tuna crudo with pink grapefruit and cauliflower. Larger dishes might include market fish, buttermilk fried chicken or Black Angus bavette, alongside thoughtful vegetarian options.

The bar holds its own alongside the kitchen, with classic cocktails, seasonal signatures and a wine list drawing from New Zealand’s leading regions.

A little bit secret, a lot of fun, and right in the heart of the city. The Glass Goose is worth finding the stairs for.
