Amazing! Absolutely the best food we've had in Queenstown. The Canterbury Lamb was absolutely devine.

Highly recommend!

All round great dining experience, one of our best meals in QT. Loved the pumpkin soup and Confit of Lamb. Good ambience and lovely host.

The restaurant was lovely - the ambience was old-school and antique and the food itself was delicious... lamb was tender, well cooked and the vegetables/potatoes were well seasoned. Overall, the dishes were well executed, the interior of the restaurant was lovely and homey/charming - and the night out was fun!

What an evening to remember. Nestled away with our candle light dinner, the lamb was beautiful. Our waitresses were so friendly and the service was great. We got engaged over dinner! And we will definitely have to go back to celebrate again. Thanks!

Really friendly welcome and menu choices explained well. Both entrees one prawn salad and one three cheese ravioli were beautifully presented and so balanced in flavour. Mains of venison and one of the confit lamb again really well balanced and great taste. Couldn't go past the creme brulee and a cheese platter for dessert. This is such a great place to come.

Greeted on entry the waitress was friendly and helpful in answering any questions we had regarding the menu. I ordered the twice plate winner of the lamb it was absolutely beautiful. My husband had the venison which he enjoyed. I had the Apple crumble to follow and he had the vanilla sponge both were fantastic. Would recommend the place to anyone

A pleasant evening in cosy surroundings, great service. Meals served fairly quickly and nicely presented. Lamb cutlets were very tasty and enjoyed by our guests. Worth a visit with First Table.

Excellent service from our delightful waitress and delicious meal - we had the tasting plate starter that we shared, followed by venison, salmon and Lamb shoulder with cutlets, then of course the creme brulee and chocolate mousse. Everything was excellent. A slightly more "traditional" menu than some restaurants in Queenstown that would really suit those wanting to experience great cuisine without too many "twists"

Mains were nice but the sides could be improved. The side salad on the sirloin was just a pile of unappetizing wilted greens and the greens we ordered on the side were stringy and overcooked. The entree platter was terrible, everything tasted like it had come from a can/packet from the supermarket (and everything not within best before date either). Perhaps the new management need to get their feet under them.

I was disappointed in the first place; we booked and arrived on time to a cold atmosphere and we were cold all evening.
When we came to ordering it was very good as the waitress was very helpful. We ordered a entree as we were told the mains would take a little time. My wife ordered from the Chinese menu and I from main menu.
I was shocked when we had two Chinese dishes arrive dishes the my entree arrived all together and all served on cold plates.
We waited then for quite a while when our mains arrived, again all served on cold plates. I ordered a highly recommended steak cooked medium/rare again disappointed not only served on a cold plate but my steak was cold also and the dish did not come with any sauce or look any good. Will not go back again, I’m local also!!

It has been a long time between visits to Roaring Megs but well worth the wait. Our waitress was celebrating her last night there after 4 years and welcomed us warmly. The food was as always exquisite. A perfect place for a birthday celebration

We enjoyed a lovely dinner ... honest NZ fare, the lamb cutlets were simply delicious although somewhat over-priced. Unfortunately, the hare & fruit crumbled was not up to expectations. Service by waitstaff was warm & welcoming.

It was such a great night out and I do feel compelled to leave a review since this restaurant deserves more love! We ordered the steak and the lamb. The steak was perfectly cooked with very quality meat. Same goes with the lamb too. We ended our dining experience with the dessert - vanilla pudding with the caramel sauce and it is absolutely heavenly. (The caramel sauce is homemade and not too sweet, perfect for our liking)

It was a very quiet night for the restaurant perhaps due to weekdays and early dinner timing. But we truly think that the restaurant deserves more recognition. The waitress was super attentive, and also very friendly too. She recommended the dessert which we absolutely love.

All in all, good value of money. It was our last night in Queenstown and we really felt very glad that we have picked this restaurant to end our trip. Highly recommended!

Roaring Megs location is so inconspicuous but it's such an excellent restaurant as the food is fantastic. We had the lamb and the venison and must say its the best foods we had at queenstown. Restaurant is not crowded but if its located in a better place,.the restaurant should be packed out for the quality and the taste.

The best lamb place in queenstown.
We had a nice dinner.

- dined at Roaring Megs Restaurant on

Ordered the lamb my partner ordered the venison. Both meals were over cooked, when we were asked about our meals we spoke about this nothing was done to rectify it. Close to the end of our meal our table was cleared including my partner's wine glass without asking if she would like another.
A little disappointed after reading other people's reviews.

I went with a friend, first time, I ordered a Char grilled Wakanui aged grain fed Sirloin Steak, and my friend a Hot Smoked Akaroa Salmon. Excellent choices, we both shared the food, and it was really delicious. Also deserves a special mention our waitress Marie, who gave us a 5 stars service! A place to go back anytime. Thanks!
