Price Point: Mains from $15 - $35

Located in the heart of Otago, this charming country tavern provides an authentic New Zealand dining experience.

Having just celebrated its 125 year anniversary, Chatto Creek Tavern is a building bursting with local history. Owner Lesley Middelmass, whose family took over the tavern in 1999, has created a warm and rustic environment for diners to enjoy fine New Zealand food and drink.

Chatto Creek offers a range of favourite Kiwi dishes, with a few international surprises. Proud to use fresh, local and seasonal produce, you’ll love the simple flavours and honest food. There’s also a superb dessert menu available (try the signature Otago cherry and chocolate bomb!).

Enjoy heartwarming Pinots Noirs and chilled whites from the Central Otago region with your meal, or opt for a local ale or craft beer from their well-stocked bar. Not one to be missed, Chatto Creek Tavern offers an outstanding dining experience within a rural setting.

Good sized portions, we had blue cod, Vietnamese chicken salad and vegetarian risotto and we were all very happy with how they were cooked. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Went to Chatto Creek expecting Bar Bistro. But all 4 of us were gob smacked at the fine dining experience we had. From Starters (included yorkshire pud) to mains (Best pork belly ever and whitebait fritters) to mouth watering deserts, elegantly and professionally presented, it was awesome. Service welcoming, friendly and fast. They even had a special menu for Valentines day. Atmosphere was happy, bright and the decore including the hearts was refreshing. A memorable evening. Thank you.

The place was such a nice place; had a great rustic country feel about it.
The service was great, the food tasted amazing!
It took a long time to wait for meals.. but my partner and I come from a hospitality background and understand that the poor chef got slammed with a massive table and 3 other tables at the same time so we both understood the situation.

Over all 10/10 =)
Thank you so much for the lovely experience. We'll definitely be back again.

Out of nowhere there's this cozy bar and restaurant! And the food menu selection was good, we had the seafood and it was very good. Pork ribs is delicious and price is fair with such portion, as well as the battered blue cod, perfect deep fried!

Highly recommended and worth a drive from far.

Another fabulous dining experience with family at Chatto Creek. As usual the staff were bright, cherry and pleased to see us. The food was great with excellent portion sizes and the menu provided a good variety of choice. The fire was well stoked which provided a great atmosphere on a cold winter night. Highly recommend.

Cosy and comfortable. Exactly what I want from a country pub. Food and service was excellent.
The serving sizes don’t leave you hungry, the kids were full after their main, then came the massive ice cream sundaes! They were in heaven.

Chatto Creek Tavern is well worth the journey! The location in the countryside is beautiful and peaceful.

The food is good quality pub style with large portions. Make sure that you save some room for their delicious tasting desserts.

The service was great, the staff were down to earth, humourous, and looked after us well.

We definitely recommend this place to others as it quite an experience! It is also very family friendly as well.

Meals rather large for me but sure my husband thought they were fine. Could have been just a little smaller with more of a finesse about them.
Beautifully cooked. Tasted wonderful.
