As usual, we had a fantastic dining experience at Comida. The food was very good, from the pork belly to pizza, we were all extremely pleased with our meals. The young woman who served us was delightful and so patient. Thank you!

Amazing how well they transform this popular day time cafe into an evening dining space. The menu is well balanced with something to suit all dietary needs. My fish was superb and the lamb shanks impressed my fellow diner greatly. Quality and presentation was outstanding. It's hard to pass on the desserts and the coffee at Comida is of course always reliable. The staff were attentive, informative, friendly but not invasive. We had a great evening out with friends. Highly recommend this place.

Awesome pizza- best in Nelson!
Waitress was very sweet, making sure everything was ok. Table setting was nice with a lit candle and fresh flowers. We are going back for sure. We liked looking around the shop at the back while we waited for our food

Wonderful service - very prompt and friendly. We had the steak and gnocchi with mushroom sauce and a vegetarian pizza and both were excellent. The prosecco cocktail with raspberry and limoncello was DEVINE. We will definitely be back!

We were in Nelson for Bay Dreams and didn’t know any restaraunts so thought we would go on First Table to check some out. We went with Comida Cafe and Restaurant and it didn’t disappoint! The service was amazing from the word go. The food came out promptly and was delicious. I highly recommend the Angus Beef Fillet with gnocchi! 10/10!

The welcoming and attentive staff make dining at Comida a real pleasure. Fresh and local ingredients cooked with love and attention combine to produce delicious plates of food. The menu provides something for everyone whatever your appetite or dietary requirements and opting for the dish of the day is always a sure fire winner. We started with bruschetta with a variety of toppings and then I chose the fish of the day, pan seared snapper with a spicy carrot purée, zucchini and aubergine, and my partner chose slow cooked lamb rump with pea mash, with crushed salsa verde, potato and jus. We accompanied our food with excellent local wine from Neudorf but regrettably didn't have room for one of the tempting deserts. We'll be back to make good on that omission!

We had a great meal: mains (lamb and market fish) sides (potatoes roasted in duck fat, salad with caramelised red onions and apple) and desserts (creme brulee and apple crumble with vanilla bean ice cream and berry compote) were all delicious, expertly cooked and well-presented. The waitress was delightful. We enjoyed our evening immensely and intend to return.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. Our very friendly & smiling waitress did everything possible to give us good service & to explain the menu & take into account my dietary requirements. The food was delicious & we could see that each course was freshly prepared for us. Although the tables were filling up we weren’t put under any pressure to leave & all in all would thoroughly recommend Comida.

Because we were at First Table the restaurant was empty except for one other table. Service was prompt and friendly as well as well informed. The wines we had, a Pinot noir and a montepulciano, were very enjoyable. We ordered the fresh fish (snapper) of the day, which was delicious albeit slightly over done. The sides that came with the snapper were delightful. We split a small cheesecake dessert, which was also a treat. Overall we were surprised and impressed with dinner.

Another great meal at Comida. Two of us had the turbot with lemon mash and it was delicious. One had the entree platter as her main and for an entree it was huge, plenty of variety on it. The tiramisu was divine. Would definitely recommend it and go back yet again!

We took our daughter-in-law and 8 year old granddaughter, Eleanor, from the States to Comida and enjoyed exceptional food with dishes that pleased all our tastes. Eleanor doesn't have a large appetite and can be 'picky' but on this occasion she devoured a large pizza and went on to enjoy a beautiful white chocolate cheesecake dessert. My husband and I opted for the fish dish of the day, gurnard wrapped in pancetta and served with a delicious black risotto that tasted of the sea while Perrie chose the calzone which oozed with filling and she pronounced the best she had tasted. We washed our food down with a bottle of Neudorf's excellent Tom's block. We finished our meal by sharing a tiramisu as we had little room left! Thank you to all the staff at Comida for making this a memorable experience!

Exceptional food and service, even for Nelson! We had a small birthday celebration there yesterday evening and were all impressed by the whole experience. The wait staff were delightful, knowledgeable and well-trained. The lamb was declared to be the best tasted recently (compared to two other top restaurants in Nelson). The Market Fish dish was delicious, imaginative and colourful: pan-fried Snapper fillets, black rice risotto, a parcel of green beans wrapped in pancetta, grilled sliced tomato, butter sauce, all beautifully presented. It was a welcome change to eat without intrusive music, overly-close tables and noise bouncing from wooden surfaces, as we find in most Nelson restaurants. We enjoyed the ambience, enhanced by fine linen and quality cutlery. We would not have tried this restaurant, tucked away behind the Prego shop, off the Buxton carpark, were it not for the First Table offer. We are very pleased we did - it was a great find!

We had the restaurant to ourselves so we had the lovely space to dine in no extraneous noise and time to enjoy the tasty and well presented food

Lovely food and service.
One criticism is that the portions are a bit small for the price, having to buy vegetables or salad separately.
Flavours on point.

CONSISTENCY IS KEY!

We have been away for a while so unable to eat at Comida recently. Sometimes it is risky going back: standards may slip, Management may change, it can be a disappointment.

NOT SO AT COMIDA!

Every aspect of our dining experience was superb: warm welcome, helpful service, delicious food and relaxed ambience. We enjoyed the Trio of Bruschetta, Market fish, Lamb with gnocchi and salad side. Next time - for there will certainly be a next time - we must leave room for dessert.

Consistency is hard to achieve but Comida does so, even exceeding expectations, thanks to imaginative, hard-working and hands-on owners.

It was very quiet as it was a very wet evening. The food was great. Three different yummy bruschetta. One pizza with shrimp . The crust was really good. The ribeye steak was ordered med rare and it was cooked to perfection. The best steak I have had for a very long time. A great meal.

The food, service and atmosphere Was all absolutely amazing. We have had plenty of takeaway pizza from comida before however sitting in was such a nice experience with the family and although the pizza is unbeatable (we particularly love that Comida use local mozzarella and other beautiful ingredients) ,the lamb shank with homemade gnocchi was stunning.
Thankyou Comida for a lovely evening . We will be back soon.

The fish dish from the menu-cart is served with seafood(different mussels) what I for ??? reasons don't like, and therefore I also don't like the sauce based on seafood. So, I asked for just the fish without sauce. To my big surprise the chef came to our table and offered me a sauce based on veggies and my gosh!!!! that was better than expected. I was in eating haven! The dessert a wonderful creme caramel, delightful not to sweet. My taste buds telling me, just go back, and I/We will. Thank you

We were a table of 4 and all arrived individually at different times. The waitress was sure to greet us all as we arrived and take a drink order. We didn't have to wait long after the last person arrived for our waitress to come and take our food order. She cleared the table of empty dishes and glasses promptly and made sure to ask if we wanted anything else each time. She was very friendly and knowledgable.
The food was absolutely amazing! Exactly what the menu said, delicious, and well presented.
Thanks so much for an awesome experience. We will definitely be back!

Three of us ordered the shared platter as a starter: it was enough for us and included some outstanding cheese and home-made pate. The mains (paella, chicken and snapper) were equally tasty, if rather modest in size. Dessert completed an enjoyable experience with excellent service from Beth.

We had a great dinner at Comida . We have recently moved to Nelson and had been there for lunch during the week so thought we would try dinner .
The food was delicious from our very generous entree shared platter for four , the different mains we all had and the dessert ( well we had to try everything ! )
Our waitress knew her way around the menu and was spot on with her dessert recommendations - you can’t go past a good tiramisu and the coconut panacota was delicious . She also had a great sense of humour and coped well with our banter.
Highly recommended . We will be back .
