The Harvard Restaurant & Bar

The Harvard Restaurant & Bar, located at Wigram Base Hotel, is one of Christchurch’s most historic boutique venues, providing a quiet, comfortable atmosphere, rich in history.

The original RNZAF Base Wigram Officers Mess was built in 1938, and served officers of Royal New Zealand Air Force Base Wigram for decades. During its time it saw royal visits, dining-ins, graduation parties, dinners and events for International delegations. The Harvard Bar and Café has been renovated and restored with the addition of a covered courtyard and outdoor dining.

Their menu is focused on delivering all the old favourites featuring local produce. The entrees include favourites such as homemade garlic bread, pork and coriander dumplings with sweet chilli sauce, and a host of sourdough, ciabatta and rye bread with hummus, beetroot dip and basil pesto.

The mains are equally as inviting with the familiar comforts of blue cod and chips, chargrilled Cajun pork belly served with mash, rocket salad and balsamic glaze, or the beef ribeye stack served with garden salad, parmesan roasted potato, garlic butter and red wine jus. Don't forget to leave room for the chocolate fondant, sticky date pudding or the traditional ice cream sundae.

The bar offers a range of beverages, from fair-trade coffee to craft beers as well as your everyday favorites.
