Hi we had a great night and the food and service were excellent. The restaurant
is great as it has a awesome view of the Pier and I love all the fairy lights. So it was great to go there as hadn't been for a couple of years for dinner, but have had coffee and lunches downstairs in cafe. Especially in the wake of what has recently happened inn Christchurch was good to have a great meal with friends in a lovely restaurant.

Our first time to Salt on the Pier. What amazing views and a lovely restaurant. Friendly staff and lots of space. WOW the food was amazing and generous. Great tasting and everyone loved their meals. We are definitely going back and would recommend it to anyone. The surf and turf and seafood platter were huge highlights. Steve

It was surprising quiet for a Friday night at Salt in the Pier. We got excellent service and the food was amazing! The meals were actually so big I couldn’t finish them. But so tasty! We will be back for sure!

Fabulous meal. Restaurant was a little cool to start with, but attentive staff soon had it sorted. Garlic loaf for starter with a glass of wine was very tasty. We had fish of the day - superb, and Sea Food Bounty - delicious. To finish, Cheesecake of the day - Banofee - wonderful, and the Orange and Vanilla Cream Brulee - lovely creamy and sweet. Relayed our feedback to the staff which was warmly received. I'm sure we will dine there again.

We took friends who had never been before. Every steak was cooked to perfection from rare to medium-rare. The pork belly was fantastic and desserts were divine.

The service was on point and the host was friendly and professional. We will definitely be returning again. Thank you.

We had garlic bread to start with looked like something from the supermarket served on a wooden board, also seafood chowder which tasted really average like out of a can, for main ribs which were dry and no flavour, couple burnt chips amongst a few good ones. The mixed seafood dish was also really average the mussels had no flavour, on a positive the water didn't taste of chlorine the ice chocolate was great and the tap cider was cold...not recommended

Tasty food, service was good. Ambience was terrible, the only noise was the guests talking and the phone ringing. Music was turned on when we were leaving (after about an hour) and the restaurant was cold. We couldn’t wait to eat our food and leave despite the waiter being very kind.

Service was very attentive and swift. Food was absolutely amazing. Had the taster platter for starters, was great being able to sample the entree menu. Mains were cooked perfect, I had
the rib eye steak and my partner had the seafood bounty no faults at all. Dessert platter is to die for! Great to sample 4 desserts.

A very nice dining experience. Food was excellent. Advice is to go there hungry as the meals are a very generous size. Pity we couldn't eat all the desserts, as they were decadent. First time at Salt on the Pier. Will return again.

The reception was warm and the food and service excellent, sadly unable to tackle dessert after a substantial entree and huge steak.

As the booking was made through first table, no need to say that we were the first there so the service was more personalized. The waiter knew the menu very well, and he answered all my questions patiently. They even made a pancake for my daughter, though it was on the bfast menu and it was dinner time already. The calamari was good, made of real calamari, not the ones you get at the pubs, my surf and turf was good, but could have been better if there's more prawns and salmon in there and also potato gratin, the steak was done to my liking, nothing exceptional, the sauce that came with it was flavorful, I loved it. The curry of the day was my husband's order, I tasted it too of course. It was good, and I wished I ordered that instead. lol. But the real winner there was the dessert for sharing. Oh my gosh! its every sweet tooth person's dream! huge portions and simply delicious! consisting of melt in your mouth lemon meringue with creamy custard sauce, sticky date pudding with caramel sauce and thick cream, lemon and passion fruit cheesecake, cream brulee, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My husband who loves lemony desserts was over the moon.

Well, it wasn't a la carte menu, as it was stated. Good food, well cooked, but I found that menu was a bit havy for a hot summer. Meat was a bit overcooked. Big disappointment in the end of our dinner. We bought sunday icecream for our daughter, but jelly beans in it were so old and rock hards, that felt lucky, that I didn't break any teath, staff was informed.

This was a first Table booking and another return visit back to Salt on the Pier Restaurant out at New Brighton by the Pier.
I have to say that this is an innovative Restaurant which seems to be doing something right.
Even though it was early at 5-30 p.m. the restaurant had 14+ people and it continued to fill up with customers.
While waiting for our food to come , we had a discussion as to why this was so.
Salt on the Pier has themes and special offers more than the average Restaurant reminding me of one of our very Favourite restaurants
" The Old Vicarage " out at Halswell which caters well for locals with their offers/loyalty card rewards.

Back at Salt on the Pier, On Thursdays , they have a Steak offer at $10 which sounded very cheap so we will now have to go back and try it for ourselves.

On this Thursday, I had the Chicken Tikka Marsala Curry with Naan and vey nice too.
For her, it was the Salmon with vegetables cooked Al Dente and that was a very good dish too although a bit more Pesto would have been good.
Desert was a definite with my choice the Sticky Date pudding and she choose the Double Chocolate Cheesecake.
Both were good value for the price especially the Cheesecake which was a generous serving.
Salt on the Pier has its own busy vibe and seems well supported and part of the local Community.
We think that it is well worth a try - and we will be back again too

Service was very good and attentive without being over the top and we were very happy with the whole experience.

Parking is o.k. with options by the beach but not all that close but no problem on a fine night.

On arrival we were ushered to our table . Because the restaurant was very busy with a function we asked to be moved further away and this was no problem. The service was excellent and our meals arrived promptly. They were delicious! We would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone. In fact we will return....

The waiter was great - put us at ease and nothing was a problem. I've recommended First Table and Salt on the Pier to everyone I've told about it since. Thank you for a great experience.
