Te mea tuatahi (first thing), we're sorry we didn't ask the name of the woman who looked after us on Sunday 22 September 2019; we did tip her though. Anyway, she was a delightful, lovely balance of personable and professional, well-versed on the menu, very communicative and added a nice touch to our evening. She also handled our unusual drink orders to perfection.
Then the food.
Well, everything we ordered exceeded our expectations and our capacity (the portions were very generous). Beautifully prepared, presented and eventually consumed.
The background music was at an appropriate level and we believe the staff must have hacked our Spotify playlists.
Three words: a fabulous evening.

Wow, for starters we had beef kebab and cheesy-garlic bread this was well presented and tasty. For the main course we had the steak, which was cooked to perfection along with a side of seasonal vegetables which was well presented. Desert was cream brûlée and cheesecake, both were amazing. The service was exceptional with a relaxing ambiance. A pleasant dining experience!!!

Our main course choice was "fish of the day" - monkfish and scallops. It was delicious and attractively plated. It was served hot which is important to us.

The restaurant was warm on a cold night. We were looked after on arrival and seated quickly. The service was very good and the drinks arrived quickly. Food was very good and the portions were of a good size. We will defiantly be returning.

The dinner at Leinster Rd Bistro was a great experience. We had a seafood platter to share and it was divine ! It was filling enough for two and we still had some room for a dessert.
The atmosphere, with the private booths, is very cosy and the service professional and discrete.
I recommend!

We loved our time at Leinster Rd Bistro. We both tried to avoid the cheesy garlic bread from the menu but are so pleased we succumbed to the temptation. It was beyond delicious. Chicken and pork mains were delectable. Perfectly cooked and stunningly presented. Can't tell you about the desserts but certainly hoping that we'll get back to try them one day because I can only imagine they will look exquisite and taste superb.

Wow what a little gem in the heart of Merivale, lucky locals.
Beautifully prepared food, there’s a lot of love there and really attentive service.
You were the only waiter on and you couldn’t tell -well done, you have the recipe right! Deserts were delicious.

Always a dining delight - peaceful, delicious, timely and sophisticated. This is one of my favourites for a guaranteed good meal and friendly service.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the Leinster Road Bistro. It was a great balance of everything: atmosphere, food, music and great service. It was wonderful setting for our anniversary dinner and would definitely recommend it to others for a relaxing and delicious experience.

Our experience with two of my friends who are regular diners in Christchurch was very positive. The quiet relaxed atmosphere was also a major contributor towards our enjoyment during the evening, where each of us chose different options from the extensive menu, which we rated very highly.

We had a really nice time at Leinster Bistro really nice dining environment with private booths. The food was really nice and the waitress was very welcoming and kind. The only fault was that we ordered some mocktails that couldn’t be made as the new waitress was left alone for the first half an hour we were there and said they couldn’t be made till the manager arrived. Maybe with new staff the manager could be there earlier to support and provide drinks ordered. But overall a good experience!

Such friendly and helpful staff, dropped a fork and the waitress got another for me without even having to ask. The food was amazing as well, we had the squid, bread's and dips, pork ribs, chocolate tart and creme brulee and it was all delicious. Would definitely recommend but the price point is possibly a bit high.

Warmly welcomed and seated in a booth which feels more intimate than a table, and was ideal for our group of 5 to chat.
The service was prompt and friendly but not intrusive.
We all enjoyed the food, especially the mussels as part of the seafood platter.
Wine was had by the glass - who can agree on a bottle of wine these days - and we were all so happy with our selections we had second glasses!
A most enjoyable evening and staff were very accommodating in allowing us to pay individually.

The food was only average, to be honest. It doesn’t seem like any other places in Merivale area which happens to have such nice meals put on to their dishes with such graceful efforts put together. The people who were at work , was kind but the food was not matching to it. So would not be back, sorry.

Leinster Rd Bistro served us exquisite food with wonderful service.
The men ordered steak with pepper sauce and spare ribs. They were pleased with their choice. I had stuffed peppers which was wonderful and my daughter had up-market fish and chips. My other daughter ordered risotto. I love the candle lit booth seating. We had a fantastic evening and would love to come again. Thank you Beverley

Ideal venue for a group outing. The booths are comfortable and work well for conversation. The service was friendly and efficient without being intrusive. We enjoyed the sharing platters.

Second visit (first with First Table), once again I had a lovely dinner. Was rather cold sitting near the door when patrons came through the door and whilst we didn't ask to be moved there were no other tables set up for 2-4 other than near the door. Hasn't put us off and will be back.

We had a wonderful meal at Leinster Rd Bistro. And they really went above and beyond with their service. We had some bad luck strike us with our car breaking down just round the corner just before our booking. Between starters and mains my husband went back to the car to meet the AA. The lovely staff held off on our mains until he returned (with car all sorted!) - allowing us to still have a lovely date night out - which with young kids is a rare thing for us!

A lunch meal with Family member which proved a relaxed and enjoyable meal and experience.
The Staff servicing Us were very good and so was the food - we both choose the Fish dish of the day which had beautiful flavours and accompanied by a salad with an olive oil dressing. Nothing not to enjoy and the Huia Gewurztraminer went beautifully with the dish too. A coffee and a Chi Latte followed and we both left very happy with the Leinster Bistro.
