Chef Jamie Bennett (Passengers + Co, Riccarton House Bistro, The Local and creator of the Christchurch Farmers' Market) knows a thing or two about seasonal produce and his menus are like an edible tour of the local region.

The dinner & lunch menus are certainly inventive. For dinner trust the Chef with his 5-course tasting or 5-course plant-based tasting menus. Or go A la carte with the fish, Cloudy Bay clams, potato, chorizo and light curry velouté or the grilled broccoli, cashew satay, chilli oil, quinoa, banging herbs. Delicious!

For breakfast, tuck into eggs every which way (breakfast tacos, anyone?) or opt for something light and nourishing from the ‘honest’ section. Crushed potatoes with walnut pesto and mushroom parfait is the sort of veggie plate that could get even hardcore carnivores drooling.

Fine Kiwi and Aussie wines and light, bright interiors that will have you reaching for your camera are the icing on what is already a very attractive cake. And with menus changing every six weeks to reflect what’s in season, there’s always a reason for a return visit to Town Tonic!
