Thank you Something and Special for a lovely evening with friends.
The food was delicious, the steaks and salmon cooked to perfection!
The wait staff were friendly and attentive and willingly met our need to sit in a quieter corner and away from the sun.
We would absolutely recommend dining at Something and Special.

Excellent meal in a great location, the service was great, very friendly and nothing was a problem. Would definitely go back and would highly recommend. Thanks

Looking across from the movie theater, Something and Social looks bright and welcoming. Standing at the counter, we were welcomed quickly by a cheeky smiling man. When asked to choose a table, the choices were many. Tables outside on the balcony in the sun. Just inside from the balcony out of the sun, or deeper inside the restraint where it was cool. Being a hot day, we chose the cool area. The Australian tennis open was playing on televisions throughout the restaurant. I also noticed there was a gated child's play area.
Service was great. We ordered drinks, as he placed water and glasses on the table. FYI, happy hour was from 4pm till 6pm on selected drinks. The menu has choices for all tastes. I chose the Fish n Chips, and my wife chose the 12 hour Lamb. The food arrived well presented, and not too rushed, enabling time for good conversation whilst sipping on our drinks. The Fish n Chips were tasty, and my wife's meal delicious. All together, we had a great dining experience and will visit again in the future...

We were a party of four and all of us enjoyed our meals. The salmon skin was nice and crispy and the lamb dish was especially enjoyed. When our mains came, we realised that we should have ordered a side of vegetables too. The staff quickly prepared this for us so that it arrived in time to have with the rest of our meals. One side dish of vegetables was enough for the four of us. The service was particularly friendly and helpful

Used 'First Table' to give Something and Social a go. Easy to find once you know it's right next to the cinema's entrance inside the Crossing Mall. Picked a very quiet night, but have an idea about the atmosphere when busy. Great set up with options. We picked a salad (with salmon) and a pizza (with shrimps). Salad very tasty but could have been bigger. Pizza good but could be a bit spicier. All in all a success (can't go wrong with Peroni on tap :-) We will be back !

The food was beautiful! A perfect evening to sit outside and dine. We had both the calamari and the haloumi followed by a 12 hour cooked lamb (you gotta try it!), fishnchips, and for dessert the chocolate delice (I'd come back just for that alone) and an apple crumble. We left very full and very content. Karl is a great host, we love chatting with him, and Sian the new hostess was so attentive. How lucky are we to have Something and Social just down the road from us! Roll on Summer

Really enjoyed our dinner here. Buzzing atmosphere, delicious food and attentive (but not too much) staff. No rush to vacate quickly, we thoroughly relaxed and had a great night out. Really convenient to the Event cinema for afterwards as well.

Two mains were excellent, Salmon fillet for me and Lamb shoulder for my gluten free friend. We were going to share a dessert but two out of four choices weren’t available so flagged it. (It was a quiet Mon night) Staff were lovely.

Men, do you want to watch the rugby but promised the missus you would take her out on a date? Look no further, Something and Social had the game on the big screen, while enjoying their cheap 1L jug of beer (free upgrades on a Saturday night - what more could you ask for) the 12 hour lamb shoulder and sirloin was AMAZING and would definitely recommend, both cooked to perfection, along with the chocolate dolce and banoffee cheesecake to finish you off. Best meal we had in a long time, and will definitely be back. Staff were friendly, and such a good atmosphere inside. You won’t be disappointed!

We came on a Saturday night. The food was excellent, the service was not. We had a young guy serving us and he had zero interest in our table. Our mains were brought out before we even finished our starters. He just handed us our plates and walked off while we tried to make room to fit everything. After we finished we waited patiently for our table to be cleared and order desserts, he walked past us several times and gossiped with other staff. Eventually he cleared our table but we were a bit over him by that stage so didn’t bother with the dessert. Won’t be back sorry

The only disappointing thing about our dining experience was that we had ordered a pizza bread entree to eat before our mains were to be served however we received our main meals and then the entree came out
Also 3 of us ordered desert and at first only 2 were presented with a wait of a few minutes (with no explanation) before the 3rd came out so we were left wondering had it been forgotten about, was it coming, there seemed a lack of communication between the kitchen staff and the young man that was waiting on our table
At the time we were the only customers eating in the restaurant side of the premises
Also at no time were we offered water for our table I had to ask for it
Overall I wouldn't rate our dining experience as great, it was ok

We were looking forward to dining out here, but unfortunately it was a bit of a miss.

The Food

Overall, the food was quite tasty however there were a few issues that really let it down

1. We ordered two pizzas (the lamb and the prawn) both were VERY oily - the lamb especially. It wasn't just our pizza either - the table next to us actually called the manager over to complain about their pizza and we heard the words "disgusting" uttered. I wouldn't say the pizza was disgusting at all, but perhaps they can try and use less oil in the future.

2. The other two people in our party ordered the sirloin (the original choice of lamb shoulder was not available) Again, the food itself was tasty, but the mushrooms were cold, the steak lukewarm and the potatoes on one of the plates looked like the were the dregs of the deep fryer basket.

3. The entrees - Bread, Calamari, Chicken and Halloumi were all very good.

4. The desserts - the banoffie cheesecake and apple crumble were good. The chocolate delice was OK (I wouldn't call it a delice, but it was OK) the waffle cone was one small scoop of icecream in a waffle cone - perfectly acceptable if it weren't for the price of it.

The Service

This is where the wheels really fall off.

The young man who was our waiter (and I think the only waiter for the entire restaurant) was friendly and had a nice disposition, but that's the only positive thing we can say.

1. We had to ask for plates for our entrees

2. We had to wait 40 minutes after finishing our entrees for our mains

3. We had to wait another 40 minutes after finishing our mains before I managed to wave down the waiter to ask him to clear our plates and ask if we ordered dessert how long it would take. He then left for another 5 minutes to ascertain how long dessert would take if we ordered. When he came back and said it would be about 8 minutes we said that would be fine and we would like to order dessert, he asked what we'd like - forgetting he hadn't even given us menus!

4. Desserts came after about 10-15 minutes which was fine. In the meantime, our waiter cleared our dinner plates and dropped a sauce jar upside down, barely missing my jacket. It skidded out to land under the other unhappy diners next to us. They ended up cleaning up the mess from the floor and our table themselves!

5. When we went to pay we waited at the front desk for about 3-4 minutes before anyone came out to take our money - we actually just got up to leave because we figured that would get their attention!

We like to use First Table discount to assess a restaurant before adding it to our rotation of regularly visited places. Unfortunately we won't be coming back to Something & Social

Lovely meal and great staff.
However, I ordered the salmon fillet with feta and watercress. The salmon came with neither. When the waiter asked the chef, he was informed there was no watercress today but he added some feta.
I would have thought the waiter should have been notified, told me when I ordered, and had a replacement for the watercress.
However, the meal was very nice.
