Second time back at Steamheads. You are selling yourself short if you are bypassing this place thinking it's 'just pub grub'. The food is presented fabulously and is true bistro quality. Service is great and we never felt rushed. Will be back again.

We loved every bit of our Steamheads experience! We had a great seat at the front of the restaurant in the cool under the fan, a welcome relief from a very hot day. The service was great. The food was really tasty and seasoned really well. Really impressed! We will be back. Highly recommend the strawberry mousse with chocolate dome dessert. An awesome end to an amazing dinner!

Yummm and Fun, is what steamheads is. The food was beautiful, the staff very attentive and friendly, and the decor is sooooo cool. What an amazing job the owner has down decorating and restoring this piece of north shore history. Would definitely recommend visiting, and trying out their food. Will most surely be back

We enjoyed our dinner at Steamheads, nice and comfortable environment. I enjoyed my Market fish of the day. The Queen desert was good, suggested to share between two, because it was very rich.

The rustic ambience complimented a good meal. Although a bit salty, when eaten with nice bread turned out fine. The service is fast and very friendly too.

We dined at Steamheads a few months ago and loved it, and were really excited to come back. Sadly it didn’t quite live up to the high expectations from our first visit this time round. As soon as we sat down we could hear two types of music playing at once which was really weird and very distracting. We worked out it was one genre from the bar upstairs and a different one in the restaurant downstairs, equal volumes, which ruined what could be a great atmosphere.
The waiter seemed as though he was just waiting for his shift to end, and after clearing our plates at the same time as asking if we had finished, before I was done so I had to rush my last two mouthfuls, he disappeared out the front door. The rest of the service was good but not particularly friendly.
Our starters were very average - the fried chicken coating was overcooked and too thick, and the arancini balls were overcooked too and tasted more of the oil they had been fried in than the filling.
The mains were much better - the salmon was cooked perfectly and the mustard lamb was absolutely delicious. We had the chocolate ball with strawberry mousse and caramel sauce for dessert and that was definitely a brilliant highlight of an otherwise rather confusing experience. The amazing First Table discount took the sting out of it, but I don’t think we’ll be back.

The atmosphere was absolutely lovely, service was great, but the food seemed to be salty, literally. We had ordered steak, and 2x braised lamb shoulder dishes, but the sauce on the lamb was far too salty. However the tahini base was great as it took away some of the saltiness. We also ordered the flank steak which was fantastic. Overall, the lamb was beautifully cooked, just needed a lot less salt.

The food was great, I had pot pie with chicken and vegetables, the mrs had calamari and lamb croquettes all was tasty and good coffee too. Unfortunately part of our meal was dropped in the kitchen so took a long while to come. Accident happen so that wouldn't stop us visiting again.

Had fish of the day pan fried snapper beautifully cooked, and pork loin was also good but just a tad dry. Busy night, service very good

Loved the slow cooked beef cheek and pork fillet looked amazing too. The kingfish wasn’t super fresh but accompanied by such a large portion of veges we really didn’t need the extra broccolini. The choc dome that melted in hot caramel sauce was a real show-stopper and very sweet but a treat we will be bringing the kids back to experience. We enjoyed the eclectic atmosphere and all in all it was a wonderful night.
