From the the moment my wife and I were walking towards The Brook Bar & Kitchen, we could hear music, and we knew we were in for a treat. We were not disappointed.
There was a good ‘buzz’ inside with a number of people already enjoying themselves.
We were seated within a couple of minutes, and our server was very vibrant, and made us feel really comfortable.
Well, the main reason we were there was to eat, and we ordered two mains (Scotch fillet & Pork belly) with a couple of sides (cheesy garlic bread pizza, charred veg, and fries).
The food was outstanding. The quality of the ingredients, combined with the fresh flavours just blew us away. Thinking about it as I write this is making my mouth water!
Great service, excellent food, with a lively atmosphere.
Do yourself a favour and get into The Brook Bar & Kitchen.
We’ll be back for more!

P.s. Many thanks to First Table for the introduction to a great experience.

Food was scrummy. Squid lovely and hot and tender. Melted in the mouth. Hapuka with brown rice and lovely sauce with walnuts on top. Sssssooooo good. Awesome most enjoyable lunch will definitely be back

Went here on Friday. The place wasn't very busy which was nice and the customer service was on point from arrival.
The wait time for our food was minimal.
The food itself was great. We ordered cheesy garlic pizza, beef burger and scotch fillet. The beef burger had some nice spices/herbs in it, it also came with chips. The scotch was cooked perfectly and came with salad/cooked potatoes.
Definitely recommend this place!

Food and service great. The Brook is great for lunch because of the industrial area it is in. Gives a better option for a "nicer" lunch especially to be able to enjoy a wine with over just your standard lunch bar Bacon and egg roll! Will definitely be going again.

Was quiz night when we went & the place was buzzing. The food was good especially the chicken pizza. Had a good night.

Food was absolutely exceptional - enjoyed everything we ordered.

I think it was indeed a possible off night in terms of Service.

Our starters came out all together with our mains?. We didn’t request this. Surprised & confused.
Annoying for a table of 4 diners.

Our table was so full of food we had to pull an extra table across to cater for our 3 x starters & 4 mains & 4 x sides.

Dessert menu not offered - I had to ask for dessert but was told kitchen was closing he did quickly say off the top of his head what they were.

However we were kind of put off by the reluctance to offer us desserts.

We felt quite rushed and the continuous mention of “early closing because it was a quiet night”.

There were drinkers still in the bar and with the hint of settling the bill because it was closing early - my receipt shows I paid at 8:21pm.

As we weren’t ready to leave. There were a group of about 4 outside and 4 inside the bar. I approached the bar to buy 2 x ciders.

The server then says to me “oh we’re closing right now & I think the tills are all turned off now”

Mind blowing rudeness - because I just paid my food bill 2 mins earlier.

I said “I see other people still drinking here”
He replies “oh they’re regulars”..

Wow. So I felt as newbies and new faces we weren’t as welcome to continue to drink.

He then runs outside to check if he can sell me 2 more drinks at what is like 8:25pm and then returns to me with

“ok I can sell you one more round of drinks and that’s it”.. As he was pouring my drinks - this was a first for me to ever see “he was drinking the tops off other drinks he was pouring at the same time. I’ve never ever seen someone behind the bar whilst still serving paying customers in a restaurant.

We were taking friends out for dinner who we had not seen for a while & I didn’t want to cause a scene - if you have cameras please feel free to check your footage. We were the Friday 4th October 6pm reservation. To confirm this review.

It was such a shame we felt rushed with our meals and pushed out the door as fast as they could.

We eventually left - last to leave and unfortunately not looking forward to ever returning.

Our server was a young looking slim and short guy. With the rude service. Didn’t catch his name.

The other guy wore glasses and sounded more American / Canadian. He was nice. Possibly manager for night.

Good food really fresh, and modern presentation. My lamb rump was exceptional and the calamari is the best we have had for a long time. A special shout out for the chocolate chesse cake, simply perfection. Great selection of wines, had a lovely pinot noir. Its an easy to find good central location restaurant, very comfortable eating area, they have some lovely big couches too. We went on Wednesday. Happened to be quizz night, very loud and not ideal if you want to chat with your dinner guests. But I'm sure if you select a different night you can enjoy some good music with your meal. We will return to The Brook.

Loved the food and portions. Very well seasoned. However the food came out quite late. Overall we would highly recommend this place!

- dined at The Brook Bar & Kitchen on

It was good but the service wasn’t that great as no one greeted us at the door or seated us at a table. Instead we had to ask at the staff at the bar if it was ok to get a table - it was a bit confusing. My pork belly was burnt on the crackle side but the mash and veges made up for that.

- dined at The Brook Bar & Kitchen on

The staff was great, food was good. However our food took its time coming out. I noticed that people that came after us got there food before us, so not sure what had happened. Otherwise, overall good.

Good food but shame they didn’t serve what the menu showed, I ordered the steak expecting twice cooked chips but got normal chips instead which were not crispy at all. Took a long time to place order and receive food despite it being very quiet

Great evening. Food was really tasty and excellent value for money. Liked the decor and also the way "The Brook" was set out to cater for both diners or anyone stopping in for an after work drink.

The food was delicious, cooked to perfection (the scotch fillet in particular). The service was friendly and professional. The restaurant is nicely decorated giving off a casual atmosphere.

Very very disappointed ,we did not got any food cus someone lost our order ,after waiting for 1 hr when we asked about the food, the waiter came and advice that oven is broken and it will take another 20 min,After waiting for another 20 min the Manager came and advice they miss place our order. He ask again what we ordered and again waiting for another 15 min we finally gave up and left the place. So sad a great place with good food but service like this is unexcepltable ,who waits for 1and half hour for food and it still doesn't arrive?
Sorry I was a frequent there and we never gonna go again.
Reason First they lied to us,and than they made a promise they could not deliver

Well, what a bustling, busy place The Brook is at 6pm on a Friday! Different from the usual early dining experience, but we enjoyed the vibe. Our waiter was possibly the highlight of the night - knowledgeable and attentive and fun to banter with. The calamari was superb, as was my pork belly. The butter chicken (Friday night special) and pizza were also well reviewed by my fellow diners, though the small serving of fish on the fish and chips was a little disappointing. Unfortunately, they had already sold out of many of the desserts at lunchtime, so we had a limited selection. The Chocolate trilogy dessert was great, but I would give the pavlova roulade a miss next time - too solid for my liking. We'll definitely be back though!

One of the best restaurants we've been to in a while the place was buzzing and had a cool vibe about it, the staff were super friendly, funny and professional we had some real crack up moments with the crew, customer service was on point. The food was amazing our steaks were cooked to perfection, and if your ordering desert make sure you have the Trilogy chocolate cheesecake. Will be back here again for sure, see you fellas soon.

Absolutely amazing time for a celebratory dinner!

The pork belly was once again the best I've had in a long time and the chips+ wedges were cooked to perfection.

The pizza was beautiful flavour but the bases were a little doughy.

I will definitely be going back there again!

Wait staff were excellent. Scotch Fillet Steak was really delicious, exceeded my expectations.

- dined at The Brook Bar & Kitchen on

Overall a dismal experience and one we won’t repeat. Booked in for 6pm as we were certain this would be a child friendly time but alas we have learnt this place doesn’t seem to ever be child friendly. We were greeted about 100m from the entrance by rather loud club type music which boomed through the closed doors and hoped it was from outside speakers. Turns out we were hopeful and it was just as loud inside. By this stage the kids were hungry so we felt we had no choice but to continue with this ordeal. To calm my nerves from the loud dance music I ordered what turns out was the worst vodka, Soda and bitters I’ve ever drunk. Feeling like we were 0 for 2 in terms of atmosphere and drinks we ordered food thinking with all the great reviews things had to turn around for us.......The food was substandard at best. Most of the food quite clearly comes from a freezer box and is simply deep fried or reheated by varying methods to make it somewhat consumable. For $26 I expect fresh squid in my meal not uniformed pieces of frozen squid from a cardboard box and thrown into a deep frier basket. I ordered what was described as a cheesy garlic and herb bread, what I got was a cheese and heavy on the garlic pizza.......hmmmm???? Not what we were expecting. I wouldn’t have minded if it tasted lovely but i would have had more enjoyment from biting into the side of a cardboard box, after all they share they same texture so if blindfolded I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. By this stage it was 7pm and the music was so loud we could barely hear each other but we figured it was my husbands 40th birthday so we should let the kids have a dessert for a treat, again huge mistake. The pavlova roulade was missing the pavlova component and was frozen in the middle so clearly had been made days prior and frozen for the odd person stupid enough to order this. The freezing of the item meant any crunch the pavlova may or may not have ever had was certainly dead and buried now. At this stage I had had enough so we left. I wish that is where the ordeal ended but alas when I got home I looked at the receipt and realised we had overpaid on our bill. Considering we have 3 young kids and it was thunder and lightening outside i couldn’t face driving back to try and attempt a discussion with the bar staff over loud music, I would rather cut my loses and walk away. This place is having a crisis of confidence and needs to decide if it wants to be a bar or a restaurant, it doesn’t appear they can do both well. It was a lovely presented place and I think it is far better suited to being a bar with bar snacks not restaurant food. In any regard 6pm is a ridiculous time to start a dance party in a restaurant, if it was after 9pm I wouldn’t that’s had an issue. One awful experience of awful atmosphere and ever worse food!

Restaurant food and service very, very good. The only issue that we encountered was at lunch time there was absolutely no designated parking for customers at this restaurant to use. This restaurant is situated in a very busy business centre with very little free parking, and if this is all taken, which it was at lunch time, you will spend some time looking for any kind of parking and you will probably end up paying for a carpark at the many Wilson Carparking areas which surround this particular area. It took us 25 minutes to even find a carpark this also included the Wilson Carparking areas. I do not expect to have to pay for parking to come to a restaurant unless you are in the Auckland city area. This let the restaurant down and because of this parking issue it does not give the customer a relaxed start to their lunch.
