Amazing! Every time my partner and I are in wellington we book to go here at least once. The food is always fantastic and there's heaps of vegetarian options, and the margaritas are to die for.
The table next to us were very loud and obnoxious and quite rude to the waitresses, but the staff were still lovely and patient as always and took this in their stride.

Twice I have had wanted to go to flying burrito brother but they were fully book so I thought wow food must be good then and decided to book on here. It was my first time going there and I love the interior of the restaurant. It really gives of a Mexican home feel. Overall food and drinks were very good. I recommend the frozen margarita to those who like margaritas. I also recommend the Chili con queso. I don't have any faults about the food or drinks from my first experience here so I'll definitely go back.

Haven't been to a Flying Burritos Brothers since pre-earthquake Christchurch, and Wellington didn't disappoint! Visited for my husband's 50th birthday, because I knew everyone in the family had a common love for Mexican, and sure enough, the food was delicious. Experienced a bit of everything across the menu, including a sharing platter as a starter. Beautiful fresh food, and we all left feeling very satisfied. Oh, and the service was fabulous from the moment we walked in to the time we left. Thanks team!

Everything was delicious - from the wonderful cranberry or mango flavoured frozen margaritas to the burritos, chicken salad, soft tacos and caramel cheesecake - all of us came away with smiles from Flying Burrito Brothers.

Our night was fantastic!! I went with two friends, one who had also been to Flying Burrito Brothers before, and one who hadn’t. Our waiters were prompt, friendly and helpful - such lovely people! The food we had was amazing - both starters and mains. I LOVE Flying Burrito Brothers, it remains one of my favourite restaurants in Wellington! To have it half price is a true gift!!!

Flying Burrito Brothers.

Or as my daughter kept telling people when asked where we were going for dinner, Flying Burrito Men…

It was a crap Sunday. The weather was a bit stink, finding a carpark near Cuba street always a bit of a hassle. But that’s about as far “bad” as this review will get.

We walked up to the restaurant, and then my wife is almost in hysterical laughter at the pun about Juan on the chalkboard outside (she has a penchant for a good pun). Almost in tears laughter. Her sense of humour is not the reason we are married.

The setting of the restaurant is different, with a catwalk to the main reception area. I know that FBB has been around for a solid 10+ years in Wellington, its almost a staple in the foodie scene. My wife came her almost 10 years ago for a birthday, when we had just started seeing each other, I wasn’t available to attend. Not much had changed in terms of décor, she had memories of a drink she used to recreate where possible. She was anticipating something similar, but with the full family in tow.
So when we were ready to be seated we headed downstairs to our table. The dimmed lighting, various coloured walls, Latin music and the Mexican movie posters all over the walls created the ambiance that we really are far away from a gloomy Wellington winter.

Looking through the menu is impressive, the cocktail menu is also impressive. With kids in tow the wife settled on a Honey Delight – a banana, orange and passionfruit frozen mocktail… she devoured it in mere minutes. Just as good as she remembered, no doubt we will be drinking a recreated version of this all summer long.

Corn chips with Salsa is a pre-requisite for any Mexican fare. Delicious and fresh with a mild hint of spice, the salsa is definitely good.
My only grievance with it is the use of Cilantro – but its more about my taste, than it is about the salsa. My wife and the kids gobbled it all up greedily.

Main meals:
Nachos – for the son – presented differently to what he was expecting. He spent more time eating than talking, which is always a good note, and he commented rather than grunted on its deliciousness. So it has to be good.

Burrito – for the daughter – she opted for chicken, and didn’t leave a smudge of anything on her plate. She ate refried beans, and guacamole.. the mere sight of an avocado at home would leave her upset for days. She wasted no time getting through the food, I think she was worried I would try take some. She was right, I would, but not that much… I got a bite at least – to compare, for review purposes.

The pork filled Enchiladas - for me - to be honest, I would have liked more. Because I am a hungry man, and because they were delicious. Saucy. Tasty and meat filled. Accompanied with rice and salad.. I could have doubled the amount of enchiladas easily and still would have asked for more.

Pork filled Chimichanga – for the wife – the foodie. Who ordered the Chimichanga for two reasons.
1) a pineapple salsa – Something she has always wanted to try but has been overcome at other restaurants with other food which called her name even more. She advised me this was delicious, and then gave me a tiny portion of it. I can confirm she is correct, the pineapple salsa should be a staple given to everyone available… maybe with a crown and a theme song.
She will talk about this salsa for a while, she may even try (and lets be honest she is going to fail) to recreate this. She will give up in tears...because she is like that.
Her only complaint on the salsa, is that she would have liked more, mainly to enjoy at least a chunk of pineapple with each bite. But also because it was so damn good.
2) Deadpool. Yes, the red spandex wearing, foul mouthed, 4th wall breaking not a superhero but totally a superhero movie and comic book character.
She is a big ole nerd, and opted for a Chimichanga mainly because it is one of his most noted food references, well he’s not the biggest fan of them, but he loves saying the word…and who wouldn’t.
The wife is definitely a fan, both of the food and the word, but more importantly the food. She loved the meaty, cheesy rice filled goodness, the soft and crisper portions of the tortilla wrap. It paired so perfectly with the above pineapple salsa. She didn’t finish it, not because of any flavour issues ,merely overwhelmed with the volume of food. This is definitely not a bad thing (I got to have some).

Whilst we didn’t get to sample the tacos, we watched them head out to a different table, they looked impressive. I saw a salad go past, and I don’t think I could refuse it if I tried.

The service was fantastic, the food delicious.

We will definitely be going back, the kids loved it, but lets face it, its mainly about us. We loved it.
We might go back without them and do a full cocktail experience… Then have more of that pineapple salsa.

We went to Flying Burrito Brothers last night and thoroughly enjoyed it! With 10/10 customer service we were well looked after and always asked if everything was okay. The food was hot and ready to eat and the waiting time wasn't too long. We thoroughly enjoyed our Tacos and even had a dessert to finish the night off :)
Thank you! We will be back

Dinner for 2 at Flying Burrito Brothers was excellent! Food was brought out quickly and tasted incredible, and the sangria went down a treat. Only issue we had was that we were seated right down the back on the bottom floor which was very cold and there was no heating. Other than that, a great dinner!

Two out of three main dishes were over-salted. One was still ok to eat, but another was extremely salty. No apologies just told us they would pass our comment to the chef. Don’t know if we were just unlucky. Selection of shots and cocktails were great though.

Rave reviews for this place, great food and drinks. Attentive and really friendly staff! We’ve been many times before but our first time using first table there. If you get the chance, order the starters that’s essentially a plate of nachos with a pot of melted cheese. Can’t remember what it’s called, and it sounds ridiculous, but was the absolute highlight, foodwise.
