On Wellington's iconic Courtney Place lies a secret. Hidden within the newly opened Oaks Hotel is Oak & Vine, a classy establishment specialising in the colourful fusion of Mediterranean and modern Kiwi cuisine.

Watch the hustle and bustle of Wellington's busiest streets from a few floors above. Their contemporary restaurant is decked out with comfortable seating, minimalist décor and futuristic lighting.

Whatever your preferred dining style, the menu has all bases covered. Kick off with some signature starters, like the salmon pizza, littleneck clams and tarakihi oka. If you want a dish all to yourself, there's a hearty lamb parpardelle, rigatone carbonara with smoky pork cheek and a majestic confit duck lasagne. We were left wondering why it hasn't been done before!

If you're in the sharing mood, order in lamb shoulder that's been cooking low and slow for an incredible 12 hours. Just imagine the flavour! And with local beers streaming from the taps and classic cocktails being shaken and stirred all over the shop, Oak & Vine is where all good nights begin.

We had the "Feast" menu which was absolutely superb. The entree was uniquely different and the main course lamb was one of the best we have ever eaten. The portions were huge but fortunately they provided a 'doggie-bag'. Would definitely go back again.

Tucked away in the Oaks Hotel, we didn't realise there was a restaurant open to the Public. Lovely atmosphere - light and bright with comfortable seating and good spacing between tables. We really enjoyed the food, wonderful drinks list and great attentive service. Highly recommend dining here.

Four of us ate here before a festival show. We shared the long slow roasted lamb which was cooked to perfection. Only glitch was that, while advertised as gluten free, it was topped with breadcrumbs which meant our gluten intolerant guest had to place another order. The staff were very apologetic and obligingly sorted it out quickly at the restaurant’s cost. Located near the corner of Courtenay Place & Taranaki Street this is a good spot for a pre-theatre meal or night out. Light and airy with a chilled vibe just steps away from the maddening crowd.

Service was excellent. We ordered the Feast for 2 people and honestly we hardly made a dent in the mains! The appetisers were so unique and tasted really good. Lamb rack was probably the best we've tasted so far- literally melts in your mouth. Would definitely recommend this to others looking for a good quality meal.

We went there last night and it was fantastic. The service was great and even had the waiter come tell us what was different in the Carbonara. Really friendly people and felt especially special when the chef came out to greet us as we were paying! He was also very helpful to the table next door.

The food was fantastic, I had the steak and wow! I love it! The meat was really good and the potatoes were crazy good! Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a nice quiet, tasty restaurant!

This is a modern and spacious restaurant on the first floor of the hotel, overlooking Courtenay Place.
We ordered the three course feast which is supposed to be for a minimum of four diners, but we were told we could do it with just three diners. We were so pleased we did. An amazing feast followed.
The first platter was a sampling of the entree menu: arancini, raw fish cocktails and salmon pizza. All of it was delicious. This was followed by a platter of lamb shoulder, chicken and steak, jus and vegetables. The meats were succulent and tasty , more than enough for three people.
The last platter, desserts, was to die for. Tiramisu sat alongside creme brulee, biscotti, ice cream and brownie. Again, we couldn't eat it all.
We were well looked after, and had an enjoyable evening.
We strongly recommend this restaurant, especially the feasts. Thanks, First Table.

Amazing food and services!!! 4 of us had a Big Feast with outstanding food from entry to main with salmon pizza, poke bowls, taro chips, 1/2 baked chicken, juicy and tender steak, lamb shoulder, baked potatoes, then deserts and cocktails( highly recommend their new ginger punch drink). We loved everything there, food is fresh and hearty, the decor is really minimal, clean and elegant look. Will be back for sure!

We really enjoyed our meal at Oak & Vine. We had the lamb shoulder and it was great; tasty and very tender. Also yummy potatoes and jus, with whole beans and roasted vine tomatoes. The chef even came and checked on us to get feedback; great attention to detail. Staff were very attentive and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Also very comfortable chairs! We will definitely dine here again.

Wonderful new arrival on Wellington hospitality scene. Well worth checking out the beautiful food and the birds eye view. The slow cooked lamb shoulder was without a doubt the best lamb dish any of us has eaten! Service friendly and helpful. Great to speak to the chef. Staff Christmas party confirmed that this establishment is taking on the old guard with outstanding people committed to treat their guests to the best a hotel can offer. Thanks for a most enjoyable evening. We shall be back for sure!

Took a while to find the place, but It was a pleasant surprise to dine at the Oaks. We ate tapas-style, and each dish was prepared with a deft touch by the chef. Attentive service and reasonably priced wine list.

Was a special meal. Salmon pizza as a starter delicious! Steak cooked perfectly with amazing sauce. No room for desert. Lovely drinks menu too. Service was friendly a food came out promptly. Definitely recommend!

We had an ok meal at Oak & Vine. We ordered 3 things - Lamb Parpardelle, Duck Lasagna and Crispy Eggplant. The lamb was delicious on the first few bites but we found it was too rich by the end and didn’t end up finishing it. The duck lasagna was an interesting thought but neither of us enjoyed it much. The crispy eggplant was a surprising highlight and definitely worth ordering

The lamb shoulder for two is to die for- I highly recommend. It was very reasonably priced and I would happily pay full price for it. We shared a charcuterie platter first and it was great value for money. The chef also gave us a slice of pizza each to try which was delicious. It would have been a perfect experience if our charcuterie platter came out a little earlier leaving time to digest before the lamb arrived but that was the only issue for which the waiter apologised.

The young waiter who served was very polite and had some great banter!

The rockmelon and prosciutto starter was my favourite, it was lite and tasty. My main I had the lamp ragout- it was slightly on the salty side however the flavours were nice!

My vegan friend did not like her dishes so much. The vege burger pattie lacked flavour!

The taste of the food was alright but the presentation was great. My friend and I ordered the steak, pasta and kumara fries. It was a feast for your eyes. The manager seemed a bit stressed but was polite overall. The decor was really modern and the restaurant itself was rather quiet in the midst of the city. Would go again xx

Check out the awesome photos taken by friend!

We initially found it hard to find as it is not clearly sign posted and within a hotel but even though we were a few minutes late they were welcoming. The service was over the top nice. They have only been open a very small while so were very eager to please - asking for feedback about everything. The food was good but if we weren't paying FirstTable prices would've been too pricey for the small portions. The taro chips were a stand out.
