Palmerston North favourite Crave brings hearty Kiwi fare to The Square with an emphasis on local ingredients and premium cuts of NZ meat. The new Winter menu starts with fresh produce delivered daily by local growers and reaches the table paired with award-winning NZ single vineyard wines.
“Crave is proud to support local Palmerson North growers Riverlea,” owner Meagan Graham tells us, “as they grow a lot of the produce we need on-site.”
Winter Faves
The Kiwi-style Winter menu includes Crave faves like stuffed chicken, lamb meatballs, and premium Angus steaks from Wanganui.

“We always change our menu according to the season,” says Meagan, “and Winter is one of our favourites. We’re introducing hot soups and casseroles, and lots of dishes with fresh winter veg.”
Crave’s succulent chicken breast is stuffed with onion and garlic and wrapped in bacon with spiced plum. It is served with baby carrots and broccolini which are both grown locally and arrive fresh to the restaurant every single day. Meagan recommends pairing it with a Squealing Pig Pinot Gris which has fresh gooseberry notes.
Award-winning Wine Pairings
Steak lovers will delight in the 300gm Wanganui Premium Angus Scotch fillet served with thyme potatoes, wilted spinach, drizzled with béarnaise sauce and topped with beer battered onion rings.

Matua’s 2014 Single Vineyard Hawke’s Bay Syrah has won a host of awards and makes an ideal pairing here with big expressive aromas of juniper, violets, and blackberries.
