Eruption is a small, locally owned brewery in the heart of historic Lyttelton making authentically handcrafted beers using only the best New Zealand South Island ingredients.
The newly restored building on London Street was formerly the BNZ Bank, destroyed in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. The original bank safe is now the beer chiller!

Get among the tanks in the ground floor Tap Room with log fire. Lounge out with all day dining on the mezzanine. Sit out on the top deck for panoramic views of the harbour and hills, or watch the world go by from the first-floor balcony overlooking London Street ..you are spoilt for choice.

The all-day menu includes plenty of small plates and sharing options as well as pizzas, gourmet burgers, vegetarian options and curry made with locally sourced ingredients. Our breakfast menu is available Satruday and Sunday mornings, come over Saturday morning and be centre stage to watch the hustle and bustle of the Lyttelton Farmer's Market. Our popular Sunday Sessions live music from 3pm is a great way to dine and complete your weekend.

When it comes to craft beers, you are naturally in the right place. Eruption began in a Lyttelton garage in 2012 and you can taste their passion and expertise in every drop. Taste the beer range with tasting trays or grab a growler from their fillery to take home.

What a find Eruption Brewery is! Three spaces to choose from so used all three! Beer tasting in the bar & then a few with delicious pizzas & the best handmade fries up on the next floor then to wines on the upper outdoor area on a balmy night taking in the harbour view!

Wow! Great atmosphere , good beer good food, and friendly service. We love coming here for coffee on the rooftop, but this time we came for dinner on the first floor. Rainy evening, but warm and buzzing inside. Pizzas were great and the hamburger a real hit.

What a find! We went Sunday dinner. The chicken burger was fantastic, my husband raved about his pizza (nice base, nice toppings). We tried their beers, also good. The wait staff are attentive and offer great friendly service. This is a quirky place that had a saxaphone/guitar/singer. Brilliant!!!

We arrived for breakfast, the waiter was greeted us with warmth. He was chatty and accommodating with our requests. Loved the retro decor and seeing the beer brewing was cool. We ordered our food and had a choice of board games we could play.
The food arrived and was delicious. Unfortunately there was no kids breakfast menu, however our 9yr old ordered a adult neat that she enjoyed just the same.
My husband loved ordering tasters of their beer.
We'll definitely be back.

Great service and beers. We went for gluten free pizzas but told there were no bases for gf or kids meals. I think the oil on the fryer needs a change, and slow cooked beef was very hard to chew. Apart from that, burger was great.

Great trendy location, good service ..only thing that I think could have been a bit better was the coffee just needs to be a bit hotter other than that overall great experience we will be back .

Good service, good food. If you come here on Sunday and sit outside, you will enjoy fantastic live music on the street. Because it locates in Lyttelton Sunday Market. And they have very delicious beers, please have a try.

We had the platter for two and the burgers, all were well cooked and tasted great. Good service and a cool atmosphere for drinks.

Very welcoming and settled us to our table, interacted well with our 4 yo. Food was lovely, great to have onion rings that were actual rings of onion and the beer batter was great. I had the chicken burger, veggie partner had the chickpea burger and loved it (she normally is disappointed by veggie burgers so I am stunned) 4yo had the mini burgers and very much enjoyed them, 2 cute little burgers were great for her. Unfortunately the beer came in warm glasses which helped the stout but didn't present others at their best. Will defiantly return and pizza will be tried.

Lovely quirky pub restaurant in Lyttelton. 3 floors to choose from with a lovely open deck looking over to the harbour. We sat on the middle floor which has a nice balcony for warm evenings.
Service is great and prices are reasonable. Wouldnt have the pizza again as it wasn’t a home made base.
Would definitely recommend trying out the place, well worth a visit.
