Great food, great service, great views. They forgot the bacon on one of our meals but there was more then enough to keep us going. Really enjoyed our breakfast experience.

Preserved Eatery,we arrived early and asked if it was ok, ( booked for 10.30 am arrived 10.00 am ), we ordered coffee first before we placed our order, coffee was very good, we ordered our meals and waited, and waited! !, we ordered a second cup of coffee on the house because of the delay. Meals arrived,we both ordered the Preserved plate, my meal was good eggs sausage etc, except my bacon, which was very very salty, and very very crisp.
My wife enjoyed her bacon as well as mine, she did not like the sausage.

Staff were friendly. Love to see they served kids food first. A+ in my books. Food was nice. Although the flavours were great I would've loved a gravy choice for my steak. Steak was a little grissly but very nice all the same. Would definitely recommend.

Food from the kitchen should start at half price.
Good for cabinet food, snacks, and drinks.
Above average service.

Right from the start the service was great, warm and friendly.
We started with entrees of mussels and prawns, what a delicious way to start.
Then we had slow cooked pork belly ,
OMG what an outstanding meal, pork just melted in your mouth.
Will definitely be going back.

We had a wonderful time at Preserved Eatery. The food was excellent and the portions were very good size (we were too full after an entree and main to have have dessert). The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend.

After a lovely scenic drive from Christchurch to Dimond harbour, we arrive at the restaurant with a warm greeting from the lady at the counter. We have ordered 3 starter dishes and 3 main dishes to share. First up was the pork bites, with its crispy sesame seed skin and melt-in-your-mouth meat, it became our number one favourite which we would love to order it again. The polenta fires are wonderful to go with the yoghurt source they provided, and the mix burschetta was a wonderful touch to the end of our entree, I especially like the salmon bruschetta with its smoky flavour! The hero of the main is the pork and pear! The pork was cooked to perfection and also that melt-in-your-mouth feel was consistent throughout the whole dish. The steak was also nice, with a variety of garden vegables and flavoursome sources! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who haven't try it! Is definitely worth the drive and effort to go out there! A small let down that there wasn't a dedicated dessert menu apart from what's in the cabinet pantry and cakes. Their menu are simple to choose from but is a menu they are proud to serve up!

On a nice evening the drive alone to Diamond Harbour is well worth the time, the Preserved Eatery turns the trip into an experience. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere, the service is genuine and the food is delicious. The pork bites were so scrumptious we regretted not getting the pork as a main, the blue cod was perfect for the setting and the Salmon is well worth a try. We will definitely be back to the Preserved Eatery soon!

We had a wonderful first experience at preserved. It is a delightful little place with a calming outdoor deck overlooking the beautiful forestry of diamond harbour. The staff were super friendly and the breakfast was delicious. We even had a reserved sign made of scrabble pieces! We will be back again soon!

We went for dinner with kids. What amazed us was the kid's meals, "Baby Steak, Chips & Salad", which was the perfect amount and presentation for $12. Also, I really recommend "Moules Marinieres" from Starter menu. My husband and I had "Mt Cook Salmon" and "Pork & Pear" which were gorgeously presented and tasted amazing. Nice friendly service too!! We would definitely visit again :-)

pork crackling a clear winner but to run out of the rest of the animal on a sat night was disappointing as the rest of the mains were a little underwelming, staff are helpful, happy to return for the pork if available

We throughly enjoyed the atmosphere, service and the FOOD. The menu brought the staple meals in an alternative way that satisfied everyones tastebuds. The food was scrumptious and well presented. You could tell the foods were free range and it was awesome to know we were eating locally sourced produce. Overall would rate the experience 10/10 and would highly recommend, the drive there is also very scenic and pleasant.

All I can say is WOW - awesome food with an inspiring mix of flavours and exquisite presentation all combined with very friendly service. The setting is wonderful, well worth a short (8 min) and most enjoyable ferry ride from Lyttelton. Preserved and Diamond Harbour really are Canterbury's hidden gem. Made for a great night with great people, highly recommend.
