All the way from rainy England is head chef Alfie Ingham, who brings with him his passion for seasonal ingredients and ethically sourced proteins, much of which is barbecued over our charcoal fire.
Inspired by loud and fun bistro's in Paris, Alfie applies classical cooking techniques to New Zealand produce. For starters, there's a delicate pork terrine, black Angus tartare and charred octopus that comes with a smoky chorizo vinaigrette.
But it's not just the food that does the talking; the room is a balance of brass and terrazzo, paired with subtle tones of green and blush. A feature marble bartop runs the length of the room and provides a perfect perching spot to see the chefs work in the open kitchen.
